Mold
Making
Mold making is the art of creating molds of creations done through pottery and sculpting, which are useful for replication. This is an art predominantly useful for students of these art forms, who wish to set up their own studio and establish a production line of products that they intend to market. Learning this technique essentially equips an artist with the ability to create many pieces of the same creation, either for marketing, or for gifting to loved ones during festival seasons, or for any other purpose.
In sculpting, this art can prove very useful, as artists spend many hours investing their time and energy creating a particular sculpture. Once the masterpiece is done, creating a mold of their creation helps them to create many more identical pieces of it, without having to go through the same efforts that were required to create it the first time. What’s more, once a mold has been created the replication of the art work can now be done across other mediums such as POP, Resin, Wax, Bronze etc.
For students of pottery, learning the art of mold making can be very useful for the replication of their creations such as pots, vases, ceramic cups, bowls etc. Further, molds of certain designs or patterns too can be made, which can then be replicated across different creations in the future.
Mold making is also useful for terracotta jewellery makers, who will be able to replicate intricate designs across many pieces of jewellery easily.
At Life & Art Academy, Mold making is offered as a short term course. Students will be taught to create molds using POP, Silicon and Fiber.
