Metal Sculpting

Metal Sculpting is a unique and interesting form of art. Compared to other forms of sculpting, the medium of metal is relatively new and brings with it a new-age feel. Metal Sculpting is a contemporary art, which is predominantly abstract in nature.

Metal sculptures are created from small pieces of metal (scrap metal), which are given individual shape and welded together to create bigger masterpieces. The sculptures created are stylish and have an air of elegance about them. They are a popular choice of interior decoration in many high profile locations such as five star hotels, resorts, airports, galleries etc., The beauty of metal sculptures is that they are not limited to fixed ideas and forms. Being highly abstract in nature, they are born out of the artist’s imagination and can be of any random shape, graphics, new interpretations and creations. Therefore, this art gives an artist complete freedom of expression to create anything from anything.

In the Metal Sculpting module, students are introduced to the different types of metal and the tools used in sculpting. The techniques of metal sculpting involve cutting, welding and firing. Students are taught how to give shape to metal based on their creativity and create their own range of unique sculptures.
